Riots broke out on 21st September when the trailer of "Innocence of Muslims", an anti-Islamic movie by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was released on You tube. Following the release, You tube was blocked all over Pakistan. The people who mostly led or followed the riots were the lower class ones who were merely educated on right or wrong. Millions of public property was damaged and lives lost. I fail to understand how this would affect the person who made the movie. It sure did not affect the owners of You tube as they sent a letter to the Government of Pakistan saying they will take no step towards the removal of the video. The video viewing site still remains blocked in Pakistan.
Education for women you say? No say Taliban. Malala Yousafzai, a young girl who spoke for the need for education for women in Swat, put her life in danger as she was also speaking against the Taliban. She was shot in the head by the Taliban. They did not care how old she was or whether she was doing something for women. The girl was then flown to UK for treatment.
Interestingly, both the major incidents which occurred in Pakistan are interlinked, as both involve religion. Instead of torh phorh, Pakistanis could have had a peaceful protest by praying to Allah to put some respect in the minds and hearts of people who disgrace the religion of others. We should respect every religion, be it Hinduism, Sikhism, Christianity, etc. It is Allah and not us who shall punish others who disgrace our religion.
Taliban, as we know, 'follow' the teachings of Islam saying women should not be educated. The one reason poor Malala was shot. It is a shameful act on their part and also on the part of Government of Pakistan as they are not able to stop the Taliban who are walking around shooting people, blowing up schools etc.
This is what the outside world sees and believes when they see a girl being shot in the name of Islam by Islamic extremists. They do not believe that Islam is a peaceful religion, yet a destructive one.
Only when such incidents are stopped and the rubbish thrown out of our beloved homeland, can we be truly known as Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

London 2012

Duniya at work :D |
The two weeks of the games happened to be quite amusing. I missed the arrival of the Olympic torch at the local park -.- . They started off on 27th July with tremendous fervour and zest. Amazing opening with colorful fireworks (so wished to see them), but couldn't, I only heard them from this far . Each day went by with great enthusiasm seeing different people from around the world cheer for their respective home teams. London seemed like this big hub crowded with almost every nationality. As days flew by, game after game, us wishing to catch a glimpse of the Olympics, we finally got hold of tickets at 8 in the morning for FREE. We left for the Olympic Park that same day and oh my was it something. Such a big area filled with a stadium, aquatics centre, a park inside a park, restaurants.. All i can say is AMAZING! We roamed around having a look at dances, horses, got a butterfly painted on my face :p. The day ended with us watching the hockey final between Australia and GB. Australia won btw. Speaking of which Pakistan did a good job in hockey beating South Africa and Argentina. The Games finally closed on Sunday with brilliant performances by singers, artists and the likes.. GB finished in at No.3 on the Medals list, well done :)

HUMSAFAR!
![]() |
:D :D :D |
So, the title is self explanatory. Humsafar, as all the Pakistanis know already, is the biggest hit nowadays. Fawad Afzal Khan and Mahira Khan Askari as the main lead of the show have made the show a BOMB!! I remember whenever i used to see Blackberry Messenger or Facebook statuses about Humsafar, i used to think "oh another pakistani drama" and i CAN NOT believe that i didn't start watching it then and there. Curiousity aroused when my friend urged me to give it a go. So, there i was on a Saturday night, searching Humsafar on youtube and believe you me, i got hooked, i watched 5 episodes in one night and 7 in another. I became a crazy fan of Asher (Fawad Khan) after that. Oh how i simply adore that guy!
Along with the main lead, the title song of the drama became a smashing hit aswell. "Woh humsafar tha" sung by Qurat-ul-Ain Baloch became a big sensation across Pakistan and people were going crazy to hear it live. QB gave and is still giving back to back performances in different places where the USP is of course Humsafar. Recently, i attended two concerts of her one week after the other. One held at Beaconhouse National University. (Saying that, hey guys Bestival is coming up! visit www.bestival.bnu.edu.pk for more details). The other was held at Sicas which also had E.P. and of course the very charming Fawad Khan. These two nights were the best nights of my life!!

Love and Respect
Hey everyone, its been quite a while i posted something. Today, i won't be talking about lahore but about something else, most common between the youth of lahore. It's the so called feeling they call love. Nowadays every cafe, park, restaurant, hotel, motel you visit, you'll see a 'couple' sharing a coffee, sheesha or strolling hand in hand. It's like Pakistani's feel they have become westernized or something. I won't say its wrong to like someone but neither do people really adore too much PDA (Public display of affection).
In my point of view, i've seen guys mostly take the wrong meaning of love. Girls wait for a prince charming while boys just want to frolick around and have fun. Some boys even go to the extent of dating 2-3 girls at the same time. Oh how i wish they could multi-task in something better , say, studying =D. If you want to love someone, love them wholeheartedly, not half-heartedly. Another thing, known as respect, which most people may not know the meaning of, has been lost between boys and girls. If someone treats you right, the bashing starts there and then. Some respect =/ . You do something for someone, they don't see it. You say a few kind words, they ignore them. We just need to constantly prove, prove and prove ourselves, with no outcome. "Kisi k lye jtna kro utna kum hai" What in the world is someone supposed to do?
As the saying goes "Aj kal logo ko izzat raas nae ati"
At some point you will realize that you have done too much for someone, that the only next possible step to do is to stop. Leave them alone. Walk away. It's not like you're giving up, and it's not like you shouldn't try. It's just that you have to draw the line of determination from desperation. What is truly yours will eventually be yours, and what is not, no matter how hard you try, will never be.
