Life in Lahore: London 2012

It's that time of the year when we all decide to relax and holiday, I, as usual, was in London where I always happen to be :p , but this time round it was a whole new experience because of the London Olympics 2012. This was the 3rd time London was awarded the privilege to host the Olympics and they did a fairly decent job. Two of my cousins applied to work for Olympics.

The two weeks of the games happened to be quite amusing. I missed the arrival of the Olympic torch at the local park -.- . They started off on 27th July with tremendous fervour and zest. Amazing opening with colorful fireworks (so wished to see them), but couldn't, I only heard them from this far . Each day went by with great enthusiasm seeing different people from around the world cheer for their respective home teams. London seemed like this big hub crowded with almost every nationality. As days flew by, game after game, us wishing to catch a glimpse of the Olympics, we finally got hold of tickets at 8 in the morning for FREE. We left for the Olympic Park that same day and oh my was it something. Such a big area filled with a stadium, aquatics centre, a park inside a park, restaurants.. All i can say is AMAZING! We roamed around having a look at dances, horses, got a butterfly painted on my face :p. The day ended with us watching the hockey final between Australia and GB. Australia won btw. Speaking of which Pakistan did a good job in hockey beating South Africa and Argentina. The Games finally closed on Sunday with brilliant performances by singers, artists and the likes.. GB finished in at No.3 on the Medals list, well done :)
