Riots broke out on 21st September when the trailer of "Innocence of Muslims", an anti-Islamic movie by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula was released on You tube. Following the release, You tube was blocked all over Pakistan. The people who mostly led or followed the riots were the lower class ones who were merely educated on right or wrong. Millions of public property was damaged and lives lost. I fail to understand how this would affect the person who made the movie. It sure did not affect the owners of You tube as they sent a letter to the Government of Pakistan saying they will take no step towards the removal of the video. The video viewing site still remains blocked in Pakistan.
Education for women you say? No say Taliban. Malala Yousafzai, a young girl who spoke for the need for education for women in Swat, put her life in danger as she was also speaking against the Taliban. She was shot in the head by the Taliban. They did not care how old she was or whether she was doing something for women. The girl was then flown to UK for treatment.
Interestingly, both the major incidents which occurred in Pakistan are interlinked, as both involve religion. Instead of torh phorh, Pakistanis could have had a peaceful protest by praying to Allah to put some respect in the minds and hearts of people who disgrace the religion of others. We should respect every religion, be it Hinduism, Sikhism, Christianity, etc. It is Allah and not us who shall punish others who disgrace our religion.
Taliban, as we know, 'follow' the teachings of Islam saying women should not be educated. The one reason poor Malala was shot. It is a shameful act on their part and also on the part of Government of Pakistan as they are not able to stop the Taliban who are walking around shooting people, blowing up schools etc.
This is what the outside world sees and believes when they see a girl being shot in the name of Islam by Islamic extremists. They do not believe that Islam is a peaceful religion, yet a destructive one.
Only when such incidents are stopped and the rubbish thrown out of our beloved homeland, can we be truly known as Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
